2011 predictions: Comm Sense managing director Barry Moore

Comm Sense boss Barry Moore reckons demand for used and refurbished devices will see the import/export of products decrease

“Although trading has been difficult across retail, SIM card sales will increase and retailers know the incremental revenue electronic top-ups can generate. The high street is on the look out for new revenue opportunities, even if they are unrelated to their core business.

“Unfortunately growth in certain sectors has not been matched elsewhere and I can see consolidation. Major brands will get stronger in each part of the market. Others will have to diversify. And there is a fast-moving trend to mobiles in a grocery environment.

“Normal import/export of phones and accessories will continue to decrease, offset by increasing demand for used/refurbished devices in the UK and abroad. So profit is available, though it is harder to find.”
