Jim Michel, UK general manager of LG Mobile, predicts continued growth and expansion of the Android and Windows operating systems but warns manufacturers must also better engage with consumers
“Smartphones are now fully incorporated into the modern family lifestyle. Social interaction with them will grow this year, with mobiles offering convergence of all communications in one all-purpose unit.
“But there is a need for a return to basics. It is imperative that, through this innovation, manufacturers do not forget their audience, and communicate about why the new generation of handsets is the smart choice.
“With this approach, the exciting advances of 2011 – expansion of the Windows operating system, continued growth of the Android platform and the move to a world of tablets – will encourage and engage the mass market as opposed to leaving it behind.”
