Break- in at technical centre causes signal drop, but operator maintains customer privacy not compromised
Vodafone customers experienced a loss of network signal today following a break- in at one of the operator’s technical facilities last night.
The company issued a brief statement at 10am, confirming the incident and to say voice, text and internet services were down in some parts of the UK.
However by 2.30 pm signal had returned, according to the operator.
Vodafone said customers private information was safe and had not been compromised.
A Vodafone spokesperson said in the first statement: “We had a break- in last night at one of our technical facilities which resulted in damage done to some of our equipment.
This means that some customers may be experiencing temporary loss of voice, SMS and internet services.
“We are working quickly to restore these and will be back to normal as soon as we can. There has been no impact on the privacy of customers’ data.”
