Sony Ericsson today confirmed the Xperia neo has been delayed as the demand for the Xperia arc continues. The phone is now expected to ship in the UK on Q3
The UK launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia neo smartphone is to be delayed until Q3 due to a shortage of parts.
Sony Ericsson chief marketing officer Steve Walker said yesterday as a result of the problems faced in Japan following the March earthquake and the subsequent tsunami, there has been a shortage of key components resulting in the Xperia neo being delayed.
Walker said the delay is to ensure supply of the Xperia arc, which launched in March, can continue to meet demand. The neo has already soft launched in a small number of markets including China but will not reach the UK until at least July.
Many of the components used to build the Xperia neo are used in the Xperia arc, so the decision to scale back production of the neo until the supply of components reverts to normal.
