Campbell Williams joins new Group to take charge of its brand identity and fuel organic growth by driving cross-selling initiatives into its customer base

Former SpiriTel chief executive Alastair Mills, who last week announced the formation of a new group focused on the managed data services market, has appointed Campbell Williams in the newly created role of group sales and marketing director.

Last week Mills (pictured left) confirmed the purchase of UKSolutions, NetworkFlow and Protel for almost £30 million after receiving backing of £60 million from private equity group Penta Capital to form a new Group.

Williams (pictured right) will be responsible for the creation of a new brand identity for the Group, which will be named in September, that positions it firmly as a player in the managed data services space. He will drive cross-selling initiatives into the Group’s mid-market customer base to fuel organic growth.

He joins from ICT provider Charterhouse Voice & Data, where he was marketing director for four years. Previously he had been group marketing director at telecoms group AT Communications and had also spent nine years at unified communications provider Mitel.

Willams said: “It’s been apparent to me for some time that the next phase of industry evolution will be based on cloud connectivity, application hosting and virtualisation. Consequently, it didn’t take me long to decide to jump on board once Alastair told me that the new Group was acquiring a data centre, next generation network and an IP voice services business. I believe that it’s exactly the right approach and that we’ve got an end-to-end, core-to-edge capability that few can rival, which makes my job of crafting our message and selling it to customers so much easier.”

Mills said: “We’re building a new company with a clean-sheet-of-paper approach, so we felt it was essential to strengthen the senior management team with somebody to lead our sales and marketing initiatives. I could think of no better person in the industry than Campbell, so I’m excited that he’s on board.”
