Vodafone platinum partner to rebrand as Excalibur 2.0 to mark new era

Vodafone platinum partner Excalibur Communications is to be rebranded as Excalibur 2.0 next month, as the company’s two-year restructure reaches its completion.

The Basildon-based dealer, understood to have a mobile base of about 32,000 connections, has been undergoing a series of changes as part of a strategy to realign the business to focus on managing and building its core mobile business.

A meeting with all Excalibur staff was set to be held last Thursday to discuss the rebrand and relaunch of the business. The new ‘Excalibur 2.0’ branding is yet to be finalised at press, however.

Changes over the two-year restructure include the sale of its tracking business, Business Vehicle Tracking, for an undisclosed fee in May.

This followed the sale of Excalibur’s online distribution business Foneshop in October, which had a typical turnover of about £1 million.

Excalibur has also now completed the closure of five satellite offices as it looks to focus on business along the M4 corridor, it said. Offices in Crawley, Basingstoke, Southampton, Bristol and Weston-super-Mare have all now closed.

It will now operate from its three remaining offices in Swindon, Chertsey and Basildon, which will be its new head office.

Managing director James Phipps (pictured) said all offices have been designed to provide “the best possible” working environment for staff. No redundancies have been made as a result of the changes, he added.

The company has about 60 full-time staff but said it is continuing a “massive” recruitment drive and wants to hire up to 20 staff within the next 12 months to drive sales.

In addition, staff will now receive a number of “juicy” incentives to help drive sales and increase morale within the business. Phipps said the company will offer an annual prize of a holiday for two in Barbados for the employee of the year.

“The relaunch and the rebrand is effectively drawing a line under the two-year restructure and making it clear to everyone we are now focusing entirely on our core mobile business.

“All the new offices will be ready and provide a really good working environment, because we want the happiest and most motivated staff in the industry.”
