Firm pinpoints its Irish and international call costs as one of the main reasons for its growth
Tesco Mobile Ireland has revealed it now has over 100,000 customers.
The firm, which offers mobile services via an MVNO agreement with O2 Ireland, has credited this to its competitive costs for Irish and international calls and the availability of the latest handsets and call credit in Tesco stores around the country.
Tesco Mobile customers receive free calls, texts and picture messages to other Tesco Mobile phones. Customers also receive double credit when they top-up by €10 or more and a network flat rate of 20c a minute for calls and 9c per text sent.
Tesco Mobile Ireland managing director Noel Burrows said: “We are always striving to give customers the best value for money, so if customers top-up on €10 per month, all of their calls and texts to their friends on Tesco mobile are free. Along with our double credit offer, that is a major draw for new customers. What we are seeing is groups of customers, friends and family moving across to Tesco Mobile together, so they get the benefit of free calls to each other.”
Tesco Mobile is also running a promotion throughout August and September to enable its customers to call 27 countries for 1c a minute. Countries included in the promotion are Poland, Chin, India, Nigeria, the Philippines and the UK.
