Merger of campaigns and PR teams will see the formation of new department reporting to trading director Scott Hooton

Phones 4U has announced it will merge its campaign teams with its PR section to create a new trade marketing department.

The new team will report directly to Phones 4U trading director Scott Hooton.

The move is designed to keep the company abreast of the constantly evolving mobile sector, according to Phones 4U CEO Phil Dobson.

Dobson said the company’s marketing department will now consist of brand positioning and communications and customer insight, which will report directly into a new strategy director who will be recruited in due course.

The trading team will continue to be responsible for determining the timing, purpose and weight of all above the line marketing campaigns.

“This merger will ensure that we are structured in the most effective way to co-ordinate and control the entire campaign for each of our products, allowing us to successfully fulfil our promise to manufacturers to create the best product launch across all channels and all customer touch points both in retail and online,” Dobson said.

Meanwhile Phones 4U marketing director Russell Braterman announced he would leave the company to take up a position with the Vodafone Group’s marketing department after two years in the role.

Braterman will stay on at Phones 4U to complete the creation and planning of the company’s Q4 marketing campaign.

“We would like to wish him all the very best for the future,” Dobson said.
