UK head Jim Michel to depart handset manufacturer later this year to take up a new position elsewhere
LG Mobile has confirmed that UK general manager Jim Michel will leave the company later this year. He has accepted a new position elsewhere.
A statement from LG said: “We can confirm that Jim Michel, UK general manager of LG Mobile, has accepted a new position and will be leaving LG later this year. We’d like to thank Jim for his dedication and contribution to the LG Mobile business over the past two years and we wish him the best in his new venture.”
Michel joined LG in January 2009 and was promoted to the position of UK general manager this past February following a reshuffle at the company.
When he joined LG he was tasked with boosting the company’s sales through T-Mobile in Germany and Austria in particular, before taking on the UK sales and marketing director role on an interim basis in March 2010 following the departure of John Barton.
Prior to joining LG, Michel was Motorola UK and Ireland general manager.
