Former BT Openreach CEO Steven Robertson takes over from Geraldine Wilson who resigned last week
Tru, the MVNO aimed at travelling business people has appointed former BT Openreach chief executive and BT managing director Steven Robertson as its CEO.
Robertson, who stood down from his position at BT Openreach on April ,1 replaces Geraldine Wilson who has been Tru CEO since 2008 and announced her resignation last week.
Speaking about his appointment Robertson said he was excited about taking on the role and expanding Tru’s presence across the world.
“The current state of the voice and data roaming market is untenable. People who live and work internationally expect to stay connected,” Robertson said.
“Right now the costs of staying in touch are so high that most users simply turn off their handsets abroad – it’s clear the market isn’t working.
“It’s going to be an enormous operational challenge, I already know some of the executive team and it’s a talented group of people – I’m absolutely confident we can deliver on the tasks ahead of us – but there’s a lot of work to do.”
