A round-up of deals available from mobile retailers online and on the high street
The HTC Desire S is now available for £26 a month with 100 minutes, 500 texts and 250MB of data, while the HTC Wildfire is on o er for £13 a month with the same allowance of minutes and texts, but with only 100MB of monthly data. A further 150MB can be obtained by paying £15.50 a month. Vodafone is also offering a special deal on its Business Essentials plan. Those choosing either the HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S II, Torch 9800 in black and Bold 9780 for £30 a month, will receive double UK minutes to mobiles (now 1,500), 250 UK texts, 3,000 minutes to UK landlines, 500MB of data and an ‘inclusive extra’.
Both the HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S II are available on a £31-a-month Vodafone tariff with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of monthly data. Fonehouse is also giving online customers the chance to win an HTC Flyer by filling a few details into a form and ‘liking’ Fonehouse’s page on Facebook.
Carphone is pushing two offers in addition to handset and contract purchases. The first is a free ‘tastecard’ worth £69.95 when a customer purchases a contract or prepay phone over £44.95. The card gives customers half-price dining in more than 5,000 restaurants nationwide. The second offer is three months’ free access to the Napster music service when a contract is purchased or 30 days free on a prepay purchase. These apply to any iPhone or Android phone purchased. The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is available for £10.50 a month and £199.95 on prepay. On contract the O2 deal offers 500 minutes and 250 texts, while the Vodafone tari comes with 100 minutes and 500 texts.
‘Deal of the week’ at Phones 4U involves the Samsung Galaxy S II. It comes with an upfront charge of £69 and the tariff on Vodafone offers 300 minutes and 3,000 texts for £20.50 a month. There is also £340 off the HTC Wildfire S as part of the retailer’s ‘end of summer savings’. It is now available for £20.50 a month on the same Vodafone deal as the Galaxy S II, but with 250MB of monthly data and £100 automatic cashback.
Customers can receive 200 additional monthly minutes on O2’s Business Single plan when they opt for a BlackBerry Bold 9780 or Torch 9800. Plans start at £30 a month, with the cheapest coming with 300 minutes and unlimited texts. Data bundles can be bought in addition – 500MB costs £5 a month and 1GB costs £8.33 a month. O2’s big push in prepay is the Nokia 2220 in an exclusive turquoise colour, which is priced at £39.99 across any of O2’s prepay plans or SIM-only Simplicity option.
The Motorola Atrix is being recommended on the Panther 35 plan that comes with 600 minutes, unlimited texts, web access, unlimited push email, Wi-Fi and free photo messages. It also comes with a free ‘Work & Play’ kit which includes a dock, keyboard, mouse and remote control. The Apple iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G is available for an upfront price of £199.99 on a £25-a-month plan, with 1GB of anytime data, 1GB of quiet-time data and unlimited BT Openzone Wi-Fi.
