Sony Ericsson has announced details of its new Arc S handset at its press conference in conjunction with IFA in Berlin. It will go on sale in selected markets in Q4.

The Arc S, which comes with a 4.2-inch touchscreen with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, runs off the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) platform and is powered by a 1.4 GHz processor – 25 per cent faster compared to the original Arc.

Sony’s 3D sweep panorama technology is featured. 3D sweep panorama images can be captured and then viewed by connecting the phone to a 3D TV using the HDMI output. Other features include an 8.1-megapixel camera with HD video capability and Sony’s Exmor R for mobile image sensor that the company said enhances still images and videos in low light conditions.

Users will also have access to the Sony ‘Music Unlimited’ service, which offers a catalogue of over 10 million songs with access to their personal music library and ad free radio channels across multiple devices, as well as ‘Video Unlimited’, which offers a range of films and TV shows.
