Former Oracle and Cisco executive Simon Culmer is a statement of ambition, Huawei says
Huawei has appointed former Oracle UK and Ireland sales director Simon Culmer as its vice president of enterprise in the UK and Ireland.
Culmer will take on responsibility of sales and marketing for Huawei’s UK enterprise business as it looks to establish this part of the business as one of the “main drivers” of revenue growth moving forward.
Culmer spent 12 years at Oracle the majority of which was at Sun Microsystems before it was purchased by Oracle for £4.6 billion in 2010.
He also spent 11 years at Cisco Systems where he held a number of sales positions including sales director for service providers and the public sector.
Huawei UK CEO Victor Zhang said the appointment of Culmer was a “statement of ambition” to increase its position in the UK space.
“The traditional communication industry is experiencing a significant change, transforming within the ICT industry. This transition brings challenges as well as massive opportunities,” Zhang said.
“Early this year, Huawei announced its plan of stepping up its enterprise business by establishing a new Enterprise division.
“Simon’s appointment is a statement for our ambition to become a serious player in the enterprise field. We welcome more industry expertise joining Huawei to continue to bring long-term benefits to our customers and partners.’’
Culmer said: ‘‘I’m very excited to be leading Huawei Enterprise as it becomes a growing force in the UK and Ireland Enterprise market with plans to match the significant success that is being enjoyed in the carrier, mobile and terminal divisions.
“I look forward to building and leading a team of industry and partner experts to ensure that Huawei rapidly becomes a significant contributor to the enterprise market.”
