Vodafone calls time on 360 service


Operator to phase out Vodafone 360 over coming months, two years after launching platform design to offer fully integrated suite of services

Vodafone is planning to phase out its 360 mobile service over the next few months, and is in the process of notifying its users of the change via SMS.

Launched in October 2009, Vodafone 360 offered a way for users to tie together services and address books, and was also fully integrated into a number of handsets, including the Samsung-built Vodafone 360 H1 and Vodafone 360 M1.

Services that users will no longer be able to access through Vodafone360 include social networking and shopping services. However, the operator said it will continue to run the Vodafone Music service, which it said remains popular, from the www.vodafonemusic.co.uk website.

A Vodafone spokesperson said: “The 360 brand was about delivering the experience of integrated 360 services – namely the People service with Shop, Music, social networks etc.

“That is something we are no longer pursuing, so it does not make sense to keep the brand.

“We continually evolve our services to make sure we deliver to our customers’ needs and expectations.

“That’s exactly what we’ve been doing, and there are a number of new and enhanced services coming which we’ll be rolling out before long.”
