Nokia promises to strengthen relationships with dealer channel with the launch of Nokia Partner Network programme

Nokia says the launch of its Nokia Partner Network (NPN) programme will bring it closer to its dealer partners, after admitting it “was guilty” of relying on third parties previously.

Nokia’s head of UK distribution James Kitto said the NPN will provide partners direct support and a greater understanding of its products, propositions and marketing.

Kitto said registrations for the programme, which launched officially last month, were currently in the “hundreds”.

Nokia will be holding quarterly national and local NPN events to provide updates on its strategy and details on future handsets. Training on products and services will also be provided to
help “educate” dealers.

The first NPN event is on November 23, at the National Space Centre in Leicester. Dealers wishing to attend can register on the NPN website.

Nokia’s two new handset distributors, Ingram Micro and Micro-P, will be “heavily” involved in all events.

Kitto said: “We are taking a much more proactive step to talk directly with the channel and give them a face of Nokia. In the past we have been a little guilty of not being close enough to our channel partners and dealers.

“We have probably left too much of that work to be done by our partners on our behalf, rather than doing it ourselves.

“We intend to get out there to provide the support our dealers need. We will be talking directly to our partners, be that the dealers, retailers or e-tailers.

“We will provide them with an education and reaching out on a regular quarterly basis for the marketplace to come and talk directly to Nokia. In doing so we will be present to them in a much more robust fashion than we have historically.”
