Orange launches second San Francisco own-brand handset

Operator to sell San Francisco II smartphone made by ZTE later this month

Orange will begin selling the second Orange-branded San Francisco smartphone through its own retail and online channels in late November.

It will cost £99 on prepay with a £10 top-up and will be free on 24-month contracts costing £10.45 per month.

The San Francisco II features an 800MHz processor and a 5 megapixel camera, both an improvement on the first San Francisco.

It runs on Android 2.3, dubbed Gingerbread, and also incorporates HD Voice for improved call clarity.

However, the device retains the 3.5-inch TFT touch screen used in its predecessor.

The handset is made by Chinese manufacturer ZTE, and may be sold as the ZTE Crescent in some markets outside the UK.

Orange director of products and devices Paul Jevons  said: “The Orange San Francisco II is a fitting successor to the award-winning first model, and offers the latest developments in data, voice and design.

“We are delighted to be following up on the success of the award winning original with such a full-featured product we expect it to be really popular with consumers in the run up to Christmas”
