O2 has confirmed it will stock the new Nokia Lumia 800 from December 9, almost a month after it went on sale at other operators
O2 has announced it will stock the Nokia Lumia 800 from December 9, although prices are yet to be revealed.
The handset (pictured), was unveiled by Nokia at Nokia World in London on October 26 and went on sale through Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Three and at Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U on November 16.
Nokia said at the time it would be available from £26 on a 24 month contract through all partners.
O2 made the announcement on its Facebook page saying: “ Lumia 800 fans at the ready – Nokia’s latest is coming to us on Friday 9 December!”
A spokesperson from O2 also confirmed the operator would stock the new device, but was unable to give further details.
O2’s announcement is something of a U-Turn following claims from sources close to O2 and Nokia channel in September that the Finnish manufacturer had dropped O2 as a stockist partner.
It was thought at the time O2 had been reluctant to commit to terms during the period before the Apple iPhone 4S was due to launch. O2 claims to have the leading market share for connected iPhone handsets in the UK.
Speaking to Mobile News at Nokia World Nokia UK and Ireland general manager Conor Pierce said the operator had not been able to strike deals with all UK operators regarding the launch of the Lumia 800.
