Motorola unveils two new budget smartphone models

Manufacturer to launch new 4-inch Motoluxe and durable Defy Mini smartphones in February

Motorola has unveiled two new “budget-friendly” smartphones, the Motoluxe and the Defy Mini, which will launch in Greater China, Europe and Latin America in February.

The Motoluxe (pictured right) features a 4-inch touchscreen, an 8-megapixel camera and a 1,200 mAh battery.

In addition, the device’s slot for attaching a cord lights up to indicate when a user has a text, missed call or email. The Motoluxe is available in liquorice or white.

The Motorola Defy Mini (pictured left) is the latest in the firm’s hard-wearing Defy series.

It has a 3.2-inch display with a water-resistant, dust-proof and scratch-resistant gorilla glass screen. It also features a 3MP camera and a 1,650 mAh battery.

Both devices run Android Gingerbread 2.3. The Motoluxe is already available in China under the name Motorola XT615.

Both handsets will be on show at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week.
