Former UK boss leaves handset manufacturer after five-and-a-half years to join IT giant

Former Nokia UK managing director Simon Ainslie has joined Microsoft as the software firm’s vice president of consumer channels for Western Europe.

Ainslie was Nokia’s global vice president for almost three years. Prior to this he headed the handset manufacturer’s UK operations for two-and-a-half years, before being succeeded by Mark Loughran in January 2009.

He was also T-Mobile UK commercial director for five-and-a-half years before joining Nokia in June 2006.

A spokesperson for Microsoft said: “Simon brings with him a wealth of expertise in the consumer businesses.”
