Virgin stocks its first Alcatel contract phone

Alcatel One Touch 282 free on contract from £7.50 a month, as well as costing £29.99 on prepay

Virgin Media has begun selling the Alcatel One Touch 282 handset, the first time it has made a phone from the manufacturer available on contract. It is free from £7.50 a month and costs £29.99 on prepay.

The handset has an emergency call key that can be programmed with four emergency contacts and a pre-programmed emergency text.

When the button is pressed, a loud alert noise is made and the screen flashes when held for three seconds. The first emergency contact is dialed and if there is no answer, the emergency text rings the second emergency contact and so on.

Other features include noise cancellation on calls, voice activated calendar, large buttons, built-in torch, FM radio and a fixed charging cradle.
