Manufacturer’s also wins top smartphone prize for the Galaxy S II, with Apple and Nokia the other winners in the device sectors
Samsung has been named ‘Device Manufacturer of the Year’ at the 17th Annual Global Mobile World Awards, held at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Among the products launched by Samsung last year was the Galaxy S II smartphone, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Samsung also picked up the ‘Best Smartphone’ award for the Galaxy S II.
Samsung Electronics president of IT and mobile communications division JK Shin said: “We are pleased to receive this honor from GSMA and believe that it’s a testament to Samsung’s innovation, quality products, and attention to consumer preferences. We sold over 97 million smartphones in 2011, demonstrating that this is the right approach.”
The Apple iPad 2 was named ‘Best Mobile Tablet’ with the ‘Best Feature Phone or Entry Level Phone’ przie going to the Nokia C3-00.
