Man charged with murder over BlackBerry party killing


Ashley Charles charged with murder of Research In Motion employee Philip Sheriff at BlackBerry party

Ashley Charles, 25, has been charged with the murder of Research In Motion (RIM) employee Philip Sheriff (pictured) on April 3 at a party hosted by BlackBerry maker RIM at the Pulse club in Southwark.

Company director Charles will appear on the murder charge at Bromley Magistrates Court on April 25 where his case will be committed for hearing at the Crown Court at a later date.

Charles, from Leicestershire, was initially charged with attempted murder on April 7 following an attack on Sherriff.

Father of two Sherriff, 37, died four days later on Sunday April 8 at the Royal London Hospital.

The party, which featured a performance by singer Jessie J, was attended by RIM employees, celebrities, competition winners and journalists.
