Micro-P sets ambitious targets for its mobile business

Hardware distributor aiming to treble business in this sector following expansion into new offices

Micro-P has set itself aggressive targets to treble its mobile business this year.

The hardware distributor expects to ship 1.3 million handsets this year, and 2.5 million per year by 2015.

The ambitious targets come after the Basingstoke-based hardware distributor experienced 172 per cent growth in 2011 across its mobile business.

The company, which has direct relationships with market leader Samsung and Nokia, claims the growth experienced in the past 12 months has meant it has had to expand its Basingstoke premises – creating a new 6,000 square foot mobile-specific office.

The office will host a mobility showroom demonstrating products from handset manufacturers, including tablets, as well as products from accessory manufacturers including Jawbone, Jabra and Tech21.

Micro-P general manager for mobile John Doughty said: “There’s no reason why we can’t replicate last years performance again this year.

“There is room in the new offices to expand even further so we’ll look to grow again on top of that. We expect growth to be two or threefold up on what we were last year, so expectations are big.”

Micro-P commercial and sales director Paul Bryan added: “Our successful growth strategy has accelerated the development of the company and we needed an extra building to house our expanded mobile and telco divisions, which grew a phenomenal 172 per cent in 2011.”
