Sponsorship’s a hit, man

Sponsoring an event gives a company a chance to promote itself with an event that reflects its brand values.

So it’s interesting that networking services firm Kcom is sponsoring an organisation whose name is usually associated with extreme violence.

But the ‘Yorkshire Mafia Summit’ is not really a bunch of gangsters from Leeds, but a business networking organisation of “tightly knit group of diverse industry executives who share a homogenous interest in the advancement of the Yorkshire region.” (theyorkshiremafia.com)

A Kcom statement wa ed: “Kcom are attending to share some of our thought leadership with fellow Yorkshire Mafia members and demonstrate how, in true Yorkshire Mafia style, together we’re stronger.” We wonder if the good fellows of New York will be suing a bunch of “serial entrepreneurs, executives and academics” from old York for trading on their good name.
