Luc Vandevelde will be appointed as senior independent director following Vodafone’s AGM in July
Vodafone Group has announced Luc Vandevelde will be its new senior independent director following the retirement of Sir John Buchanan at its AGM on July 24.
Buchanan had been a board member since 2003 and was also deputy chairman and a member of the audit committee. Paying tribute to his retiring colleague, chairman Gerard Kleisterlee, said: “John has been a great asset to the Vodafone board. The whole board sends our best wishes.”
He added that Vandevelde was ideally suited to his new role due to his “deserved reputation as an international businessman of considerable standing”.
Also after the AGM Philip Yea will join Vodafone’s nominations and governance committee, with Renee James joining the remuneration committee and Anthony Watson moving from the remuneration committee to the audit committee.
