Operator’s location-based deals service to be extended to its business customers in the coming weeks
O2 UK CEO Ronan Dunne has told Mobile News the operator’s location-based service, Priority Moments, will be available for local businesses from the summer.
The service currently offers O2 customers more than 3,000 exclusive deals across more than 300 major retail stores and restaurants in the UK.
Subscribers to the scheme are offered deals that are available in the area in which they live.
Since Priority Moments first launched in July 2011, O2 has focused on partnering with national brands such as ODEON, WHSmith, House of Fraser and Burton.
But Dunne says from this summer O2 Priority Moments will be extended to include smaller local independent retailers and restaurants.
Customers will have access to the same e-marketing that companies currently have under the scheme.
Dunne said the launch of the service to SME customers would act as a useful way of attracting and retaining customers in tough economic conditions.
“The next phase of Priority Moments is to localise it and bring small business customers into that,” he said.
“This will give them the opportunity to use it as a customer attraction and retention tool so they can go head to head with national brands. It will be really attractive to customers and the local community base.
“Small businesses are always hit first when the economy slumps, but grow and recover when it starts to pick up. This will be a small business-led recovery.”
