Scratch, water and dust resistent Xperia go and Xperia acro S handsets announced, with only the former being released in the UK at present
Sony Mobile Communications has unveiled the scratch, dust and water resistant smartphone, the Xperia go. It will go on sale in the UK in Q3 and be available in black, white and yellow.
The Xperia go (pictured left) is powered by a 1GHz dual core processor and will initially run Android 2.3 Gingerbread, though an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be available at a later date.
It comes with a 3.5-inch touchscreen powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine that is made from scratch resistant mineral glass. The smartphone also comes with an IP67 rating, meaning it is protected against dust and water between 15cm and one metre for 30 minutes.
The Xperia go features a five megapixel autofocus camera with 16x digital and video zoom, face and smile detection and 3D Sweep panorama. The phone also records video in HD. It comes with 8GB of memory, which can be expanded by up to 32GB with a microSD card.
Sony Mobile also announced the Xperia acro S (pictured right) but the manufacturer has said there are no plans to release this in the UK at present. It will go on sale globally in Q3 and be available in black, white and pink.
The Xperia acro S is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core processor and will launch on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It will come with a 4.3-inch HD touchscreen with Mobile BRAVIA Engine that is scratch resistant. It is dust and water resistent.
The smartphone includes a 12 megapixel camera, HD video recording and HD front-facing camera, as well as 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded by up to 32GB with a microSD card.
