Former Shebang Logistics MD to launch new UK accessories brand

Joe Bennet to launch Gusto Telecom to focus on “innovative” and “forward-thinking” accessories

Ex-Shebang Logistics Solutions managing director Joe Bennett will launch his new accessories distribution business Gusto Telecom on August 1.

Gusto has opened an office in China and is using eight factories across the country housing cases, power and music specialists to manufacture its ‘Smart Mobile’ accessories, focusing on handset cases, headphones and chargers.

Following testing, the accessories will be shipped to Gusto’s newly purchased warehouse in Coventry, ready for distribution to the mass retail channel, including high street retailers, networks and independent dealers. Bennett said Gusto will also be approaching Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U.

Bennett has so far assembled a team of six people and is looking to increase this to 20 before the end of the year. The company is also developing a website through which it can sell its range direct to consumers.

Bennett said: “We’re going to do something a bit more innovative and forward-thinking, and with a focus on fashion.

As there are so many iPhones out there, we’ll be working with a number of designers to create bespoke solutions.

I’ll be looking to recruit the best talent from all the other major players, which will ensure we get off to a good start and grow quickly.

We want to breathe new life into the mobile accessories distribution sector and challenge everyone out there.”

Bennett left Shebang in April, having joined after an 18-month spell as Brightstar UK sales director. He also spent over nine years at defunct hardware distributor Unique Distribution holding the roles of sales manager, head of sales, accessories distributor and sales director.
