Distributor to supply retailers in the UK, France, Germany, Austria and Netherlands with mobile tracking firm’s ‘Protect’ product

Ingram Micro has signed a pan-European agreement with mobile tracking firm iTrack to distribute its latest ‘Protect’ product.

Protect enables users to view and track the location of registered handsets as well as provide lone workers with the ability to raise the alarm using an emergency alert button, should they encounter danger while at work.

The new Small Business Edition will be available from retailers across the UK, France, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.

Packages come with a 12-month subscription licence, and cost €499.99 (£396) for five devices or €999.99 (£793) for 10.

The service is available on any GSM handset connected to Orange, Vodafone or O2, as well as on associated MVNOs running off their networks.

iTrack Protect sales director David Hinc said: “The market for lone worker protection is exploding, driven by the requirement for businesses to proactively protect their field-based workforces, plus the inevitable efficiency and productivity gains that follow most deployments of our solution, prove compellingly attractive in the current recessionary climate.”

Ingram Micro executive director and general manager of the telco division Pierre-Yvon Mechali added: “We see this solution as one of the most innovative products available, and specially designed to take benefit of the embedded GPS features most smartphones have.”

iTrack has distribution agreements with Azzurri, Elite, Micro-P and GK telecom.
