Dual-core smartphone running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to be available from Phones 4U and Virgin Media from the start of August
ZTE has launched its Grand X smartphone at an event in central London this evening. The handset will be available on contract through Phones 4U and Virgin Media in the UK from the beginning of next month.
The Grand X is powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core chipset and runs off Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It has has a 4.3-inch touchscreen, cinematic surround sound Dolby Mobile Sound technology and 4GB of internal memory that can be expanded to 32GB with a microSD card.
Other features include Facetones, which shows friends’ latest social media updates and photos when they call; and Evernote which enables users to save voice notes, memos, photographs and music in the cloud.
ZTE EVP and head of the terminals division He Shiyou said: “ZTE Grand X brings high-end mobile video and gaming within the reach of a whole new audience.”
Phones 4U chief commercial officer Scott Hooton said: “With ZTE’s Grand X handset, buyers have the best of both worlds: an amazing, high-end user experience at a cost that will be noticeably lower than handsets with similar specifications.”
Virgin Media director of mobile Jamie Heywood said: “We’re enjoying a great partnership with ZTE, having already launched two handsets with them this year, and their latest phone, the Grand X, is a fantastic addition to our extensive smartphone range.”
