Three’s ‘The One Plan’ is also included as a SIM-only deal for £25 a month, offering 2,000 minutes, 5,000 texts and unlimited data on a one month rolling deal.
Figures released by market research agency GfK found that between June 2010 and June 2012, the SIM-only market has grown 34 per cent in terms of volume sales.
Additionally, according Enders Analysis’ report ‘Smartphones and Mobile Advertising’, which was published in January, ownership of data-hungry smartphones are expected to reach over 80 per cent by the end of the year as consumers are looking for flexible options to best support their growing data needs.
Three marketing director Thomas Malleschitz (pictured) said: “The SIM market is on the up, driven, we believe, by consumers that want the best value for data from their plan with the option of being able to act quickly if a new smartphone catches their eye.
“The brand new SIM plans in our portfolio are built for the internet, packed full of data as well as a great allowance of minutes and texts, all on a network built for the internet.”
