Former LG Mobile and Sony Ericsson marketing director set to join Mozilla as it gears up for the launch of its Firefox OS
Ubuntu OS global head of marketing John Bernard is set to join Mozilla Firefox next week as its global director of marketing and product.
It is believed Bernard (pictured), who was previously marketing director at LG Mobile and globally at Sony Ericsson, will initially focus on the Firefox Phone OS, which will launch early next year on new handsets from ZTE.
He will also be responsible for growing the company’s brand – which has over 400 million users – in the mobile phone industry and launching the Firefox OS into operators and retailers.
A source said Mozilla will launch handsets in Brazil in March next year, with a European roll-out shortly after. A number of manufacturers and operators have already agreed to produce Firefox handsets.
