Administrator of mobile phone insurance to the telecoms and bank sector Lifestyle Services Group says 50,000 policy requests were made during the iPhone 5’s opening weekend on sale
Lifestyle Services Group (LSG) has revealed that more than 50,000 new mobile phone insurance policy requests for all handsets were made in the first three days of the iPhone 5 launch.
It also said that more than half of all new iPhone policies were for the iPhone 5, with 60 per cent of these for the 16GB model.
LSG predicted that with over five million iPhone 5 handsets being sold globally over its opening weekend on sale, it is expecting a significant number of requests in the coming weeks as customers receive their new handsets.
Business development director Andy Morris said: “Given the monetary value of the iPhone 5 and also the high dependency people place on these handsets, customers can’t afford to be without their phone and are looking for quick replacements.”
“It took less than 24 hours of the iPhone 5 launching for us to receive our first claim – we are seeing more customers recognising the value of this product and the importance of protecting their phone.”
