Ethnic MVNO launches in Portugal, as it states intention to operate in 25 countries by 2013
Lycamobile has announced it wants to be active in 25 countries by the end of next year. This week, it launched in Portugal, taking the number of countries it operates in to 15.
The firm runs operations in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Australia, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany and Switzerland.
Lycamobile claims to have 20 million customers across all its markets and revenues reached €1 billion (£793 million) for the first time earlier this year.
Group chairman and founder Subaskaran Allirajah (pictured) said: “Launching into the Portuguese market is a milestone. It cements our coverage of the European population and puts us on track to reach our goal of being in 25 countries by 2013.
“Our €150 million (£120 million) investment over the past decade has enabled us to move fast. We are very excited about bringing this proposition to Portugal residents and their friends and family overseas.
