Up to 8,000 Samsung Galaxy S III smartphones stolen from the distributor in transit to its Buckinghamshire warehouse
Thieves stole more than £2.2 million worth of handsets from distributor RP Europe, Mobile News understands.
The firm refused to comment on the story, but sources close to it claim around 8,000 Samsung Galaxy S III devices (pictured) were taken while in transit to its Buckinghamshire warehouse.
One source said: “RP Europe has fallen victim at a time when handset demand is high. While the firm is undoubtedly insured, its cash flow will be hit for the immediate period.”
Another said: “Distributors are on alert for cheap stock but the likelihood is they have already been sold abroad.”
Thames Valley Police, which covers Buckinghamshire, claimed to have no information regarding the incident as Mobile News went to press.
