Brightstar appoints ex-Voda Europe CEO to steer global growth


The company has appointed a former CEO of Vodafone Europe as the first member of its new advisory board, which will guide Brightstar’s global expansion

Brightstar has appointed former Vodafone Europe CEO Michel Combes to help spearhead the firms global expansion plans.

Combes has become the first member of a new advisory board set up by the Miami based distributor designed to outline new business markets and opportunities,

The distributor said it plans to appoint up to five more “telecom industry veterans” in the coming months.

Combes was previously board member of Vodafone Group and held positions of CEO of French radio and television service provider TDF Group and senior EVP of France Telecom.

Brightstar chairman and CEO Marcelo Claure told Mobile News last month Europe was his number one focus having sold its 50 per cent share of the Brightstar Europe joint venture to Tech Data Mobile for $165 million (£102 million) in September

Claure said: “We look forward to tapping his expertise as we broaden our portfolio of customised services to help our customers manage the growing complexity of the wireless industry.”
