EE Android phones to include free security software

Lookout system will come as standard on EE, T-Mobile and Orange phones sold in 2013

Customers of EE’s three brands will have mobile security software automatically installed on all Android devices bought from January.

Following a deal between Orange Group and security firm Lookout, handsets sold by Orange in the UK, France, Spain and Slovakia will come with the software in the new year. The deal has been extended in the UK to include T-Mobile and EE customers.

The software protects the handset from malware, data loss, privacy threats and locks data in the event of phone loss or theft.

Orange Technocentre executive vice president Paul-François Fournier said: “It is critical we help protect our customers, and this partnership with Lookout allows us to provide additional protection for our customers without them having to take any action, or become experts on mobile security.”
