BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion (RIM) says it will release six new handsets this year – covering all ends of the market

RIM’s chief marketing officer Frank Boulben has revealed the firm will release six new devices this year – all running on the BlackBerry 10 (BB10) operating system.

Boulben, who made the announcement yesterday at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, said the devices will be priced to appeal to the low, medium and high end of the market. No network exclusives are expected – but confirmed more than 150 operators are in a testing period.

They will be the first handsets released by RIM since May 2012 – with the Curve 9320.

Details on the devices have yet to be confirmed ahead of the firm’s BlackBerry 10 press conference being held on January 30, where further details of the OS as well as the list of devices will be unveiled.

Reports on the internet suggest one of the devices will be branded as the Z10, which will include a full touchscreen and the X10, which will include BlackBerry’s trademark QWERTY keyboard.
