2013 predictions: Vodafone UK CEO Guy Laurence

Laurence thinks 4G will take what consumers and businesses are able to do on their devices to a whole new level, with many new smartphones and tablets emerging

The coming year will be very different for the industry from the year just gone. The launch of competitive 4G services will see many more people enjoying the benefits of the next generation of mobile internet services. Businesses will also be able to harness the power of 4G technology, helping to improve productivity by allowing employees to work from where they need to be instead

of where their office happens to be.

A wide range of new smartphones and tablets will emerge as the year progresses and the industry needs to ensure it helps people get the most out of their new device. Roughly half of all mobile phone users in the UK currently have a smartphone, which means there are a lot of people who have yet to experience what they can do with the internet on a mobile device.

Finally, I believe the mobile phone will continue to play an important part in supporting the UK’s vital charitable sector.
