Maxwell is predicting significant shifts in manufacturer market shares with Nokia and BlackBerry standing out, with strong growth in tablet recycling and trade in volumes also experienced
2012 was an exciting year – battles between Apple and Samsung for supremacy (and some large legal bills) as well as the tablet market growing strongly and of course the launch of superfast 4G.
This lays the platform for an even more turbulent 2013 in my view. We will see significant shifts in manufacturer market share. I would keep a close eye on Nokia and BlackBerry in 2013 – we will see significant movement here. Also ZTE, Huawei, LG and Sony are ones to watch.
Research house IDC recently raised its forecast for the 2012 tablet market to 122.3 million units from 117.1 million units, noting that “Android tablets are gaining traction in the market thanks to solid products from Google, Amazon, Samsung and others”. Recycling is a key market sector which ANOVO operates in and I believe we will see strong growth in tablet recycling and trade in volumes in 2013.
2013 marks 20 years in the telecommunications industry for me. I have to say the rate of change in this industry makes it a great place to be – and there’s much more to come in 2013.
