Preston reckons value for money and strong brand values will remain key and despite Windows gaining more traction in the market, it will fail to pose a threat to Android or Apple

Manufacturers will continue to focus on delivering excellent value for money and strong brand values while retail prices plummet across the UK and the rest of Europe.

Windows devices will see some recovery and create new traction during 2013 among a loyal Microsoft fan base. Despite this change in fortune, Windows devices will pose little competition against the continued sale of Android and Apple handsets.

Multi-core devices will improve overall handset performance and during 2013 service will be boosted further by the arrival of the 4G network.

2013 is also the year when NFC will finally have a visible impact on consumers, adopted quickly and most significantly by the youth customer.
