Samsung inks deal with AVG for anti-virus protection on devices

Owners of Android-based devices can now download an application for free from Samsung Apps to protect their smartphone or tablet from being infected

Samsung UK has signed a deal with internet and mobile security provider AVG Technologies to enable its smartphone, tablet and camera users to download the firm’s anti-virus software to their devices.

Owners of Android-based devices such as the Galaxy S III smartphone (pictured) can download and install a full-featured version of AVG AntiVirus Pro for Android for free from the Samsung Apps marketplace.

It checks web addresses and directs users to a safe page when visiting a website deemed suspicious, scans apps to ensue malware won’t infect the device, scans for malware spyware, viruses and enables users to remove them with one click and enables users to lock apps and secure them from being accessed by others using their phone.
