Virgin is trialling different ways of ensuring all customers have an adequate connection, including capping data to 2Mb/s
Virgin Mobile has admitted it is capping mobile data to 2Mb/sec as part of its efforts to manage use across the network.
The MVNO started trialling the speed cap on both contract and pre-paid customers without letting them know, but has now explained its actions.
In a statement to news site The Register, Virgin Mobile said the cap is one measure it is experimenting with to “help manage data across the mobile network.”
It said the cap was designed to “ensure all our customers can continue to enjoy the benefits of mobile data on the move.”
