BlackBerry has said an unnamed parter has placed an order for 1 million Z10 smartphones
Shares in BlackBerry rose over 8 per cent yesterday evening after one of the manufacturer’s placed an order for 1 million Z10 smartphones.
BlackBerry, which launched the Z10 in January, did not disclose the name or location of the partner.
In a blog post, BlackBerry’s executive vice-president of global sales Rick Costanzo said the order is a “tremendous vote of confidence” for its new OS, BlackBerry 10.
Costanzo said: “With strong partner support, coupled with this truly reinvented new platform, we have a powerful recipe for success.”
The Z10 has been on sale in the UK and other European markets since launch and has recently gone on sale with American operators Verizon Wireless and AT&T Mobility.
