Purchase of gold partner takes firm’s base to more than 70,000 connections on the network as it targets more acquisitions

Vodafone platinum partner Evolve Telecom has completed the acquisition of rival dealer Fenchurch Communications for an undisclosed fee.

Evolve told Mobile News last week the purchase of the London-based Vodafone gold partner adds 6,000 Vodafone connections, taking the firm’s total base to more than 70,000 connections on the network.

Fenchurch’s office and shop-front location will remain open.  It will be a phased merge into the Evolve brand.

Fenchurch managing director Grant Fernley has now exited the business, with Evolve’s MD Mark Gordon extending his role.

The day-to-day running of the firm falls to sales director James Thompson and the remaining 10 members of his team.

It is the latest move in Evolve’s acquisition strategy –the firm acquired two Vodafone partners and a customer base last year, adding almost 18,000 connections.

These were silver partner MPC Romford in May (1,500 connections), platinum partner The Word in July (15,000 connections) and the base of JL Communications in October (1,300 connections).

Evolve claimed the addition of Fenchurch will strengthen its geographical reach and extend the services it can offer and support across the group.

Gordon said: “Evolve is committed to growing by acquisition, but we specifically seek out companies that will offer the best advantage moving forward for us to service both Evolve’s existing customers and those that will be brought into the group.

“This acquisition is a positive first step of a continued growth and acquisition strategy in 2013. This, alongside our continued dedication to customer service, embracing new technology and unified communications, will offer our customers a market-leading telecommunications experience.

Fernley added: “By bringing together the knowledge and experience held by both companies, I believe that the benefits will be evident to the whole customer base. Both organisations have thrived due to a customer-focused strategy and this move will ensure that Fenchurch’s team and customers will now have access to the larger support structure that Evolve has to offer, while retaining their local account management.”
