Samsung launches Mega phablet range

Devices with 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch screens to go on sale in Europe in the coming weeks

Samsung has launched its Mega range of phablet devices, both of which will go on sale in Europe next month.

The Mega 6.3 is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core AP processor whereas the Mega 5.8 is powered by a 1.4GHz dual-core AP processor.

Both run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and have a HD touchscreen, eight-megapixel rear camera, 1.9-inch front camera and eight or 16GB of internal memory that can be increased by up to 64GB with a microSD card.

The two devices also feature ‘Group Play’ to enable content sharing for up to eight devices on the same Wi-Fi network; ‘Samsung Link’ to stream multimedia content to a TV, tablet or PC; ‘S Translator’ to translate voice or text messages; and ‘ChatON’ to share screen content with friends.

Samsung Electronics CEO and head of IT and mobile business JK Shin said: “We are aware of a great potential in the bigger screen for extensive viewing multimedia, web browsing, and more. We are excited to provide another choice to meet our consumers’ varying lifestyles, all while maintaining the high-quality features of the award-winning GALAXY series.”
