Exclusive software for flagship device announced at Kensington Olympia leg of World Tour
Samsung has showcased its S4 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 handset at the London leg of its ‘world tour’ prior to the launch of its new flagship on April 27.
As well as showcasing the new features of the two handsets, the manufacturer confirmed it had signed a deal with software manufacturer Electronic Arts to allow the first 100,000 European customers to buy the S4 to get its new Need for Speed Most Wanted game for free.
Also announced by European vice president for telecom operations Jean-Daniel Ayme was a partnership with Michelin which, when the new apps are launched in later this year, will allow users to use its restaurant finder and maps for free.
The presentation to its partners and the media showcased the variety of new features available on the S4 including its range of new apps and improvements to the camera which allow photographs to be taken simultaneously with the back and front camera.
Other new features include Air View which allows users to preview emails without touching the screen and Air Gesture which lets users scroll through pages without touching the screen.
EA vice president for new platforms Glenn Roland said: “The introduction of Samsung’s Galaxy S4 will bring outstanding mobile gaming experiences to its players. Our ‘Need for Speed Most Wanted’ offering at launch is one of several EA games specifically optimised for Samsung and will include exclusive content.”
Ayme added: “We have listened to what people wanted and created a life companion. We’ve improved the key aspects from the SIII. The battery is larger, the screen is larger shows greater definition and the camera is now 13 megapixel.
“For people who want something larger, but still operable with one hand we have the Galaxy Mega. It is ideal for video and still fits easily into your pocket.”
