Eircom makes two senior management appointments

Group’s CCO Carolan Lennon takes over from Chris Hutchings as wholesale MD, while CTO Geoff Shakespeare steps into a newly created role to drive the Group’s overall technology strategy

Eircom has appointed Carolan Lennon as managing director of its wholesale division and Geoff Shakespeare as managing director of evolution and development.

Lennon (pictured left), who has been Eircom’s chief commercial officer since joining the company from Vodafone Ireland in 2010, takes over from Chris Hutchings, who is leaving the company at the end of this month.

She will now oversee the wholesale division that is responsible for the access and support to other telecoms operators that use the Eircom network.

Shakespeare (pictured right) has been Eircom’s chief technology officer since 2005 after joining from Ericsson, where he held senior roles in the UK and USA.

In his newly created role, he  is now responsible for developing the firm’s overall technology strategy and driving the evolution of the Group’s IT systems.

Eircom Group CEO Herb Hribar said: “Both Carolan and Geoff bring a wealth of expertise and organisational knowledge to their new roles. I want to thank Chris for his contribution over the past two and half years where he led the programme that has delivered the first phase of our new fibre broadband network that provides superfast broadband to eircom and other operators.”
