Facebook director of UK and pan-Euro Christian Hernandez told Mobile News the delay was “EE and HTC’s decision”

The decision to delay the launch of the HTC First in the UK was taken by the manufacturer and EE, Facebook has told Mobile News.

As reported by Mobile News yesterday, the device, which is the first to come pre-loaded with Facebook’s ‘Home’ platform, was due to go on sale in the UK in the next few months but has been delayed while the social network makes improvements to it.

Yesterday EE, which had exclusivity on the HTC First, said Facebook had “recommended holding off” its launch.

Facebook director of UK and pan-Euro Christian Hernandez told Mobile News today: “I can’t comment on EE and HTC’s decision not to take the device or its decision to lower the price in the US with AT&T.”

Hernandez refused to elaborate, saying the decision was the subject of a “commercial agreement between HTC and EE.”
