Dogan Ismail killed trying to retrieve stolen mobile phone

Old Bailey hears teenager was stabbed in the chest after visiting a south London housing estate to get his device back

Dogan Ismail was stabbed to death after visiting a housing estate in an attempt to retrieve his stolen mobile phone.

The 17-year-old (pictured), who along with a 15-year-old went to get his BlackBerry back from the Aylesbury estate in Walworth, south London, was attacked on December 30.

The Old Bailey heard they confronted a youth who is alleged to have gone into a flat and returned before stabbing Ismail in the chest. He collapsed and died despite attempts by a doctor and paramedics to save his life.

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, disappeared but handed himself into police two weeks later, jurors heard. He denies murder but admits theft and manslaughter.

The case continues.
